Kill it with fire!! My step-mother has one of these and it’s the biggest piece of shit that Jeep has ever made.

Jeep also put 4-bangers in Wranglers, so if it’s not the biggest piece of shit I’m sure it’s close behind.

Red makes you stop faster? What the hell is this, WH40k on opposite day?

That’s not a Jeep. It’s a Willys.
![]() 04/27/2015 at 17:42 |

Because Jeep is totally not an informal name for the Willys MB.

Not to Willys people. Besides that could be a Ford. Also the Go-Devil engine is above reproach and wasn’t put in a Wrangler.

Let’s see... ball joints at 40k? CVT overheat at about 30k? Intake manifold runner valve actuator at 75k? Growling alt bearing that throws metal filings into the copper windings? Rear end can no longer be aligned? Trim pieces on seats falling off? Roof leak?
Please check all that apply. I’m very familiar with this product, thought luckily, I’ve managed to avoid most of those issues somehow.

She’s had the following problems so far:
Typical Chrysler suspension issue, needed new ball joints.
Shifter wouldn’t engage drive, needed new shift cables.
Parking brake hasn’t worked since day 1.
Ambient air sensor never gives the correct temperature.
To top it all off, she rear-ended someone during the winter and while it was a hard impact, no airbags deployed.
It doesn’t look like that much damage but the impact was hard enough to bend the radiator which then leaked coolant everywhere. It also bent the hinges for the hood which you can see is off-centre in the photo.

I own a Patriot, which apart from the exterior sheet metal, is exactly the same car.
The radiators are woefully unprotected. I was rear-ended into another vehicle, with the same result. Sorry to hear about that. I’ve never heard of the airbags not deploying, that’s seriously scary.
The parking brake and shifter are not uncommon, but the ambient temp sensor is a new one on me.
I think the biggest problem with the Patriot/Compass twins is their overall lack of consistency.

I think the Patriot actually looks decent, the Compass looks just embarrassing. The radiators literally have that thin plastic grille to protect them and that’s it. I told her that she needs to call Chrysler regarding the airbags but she never did.
The ambient temp sensor isn’t a common problem, mostly up here in Canada during the winter.
I agree, they seriously lack consistency.
